Fabrication Quality
Control
We have full ISO 9001 certification, and our quality
control and inspection facilities are approved by major
companies, national and international laboratories,
and civil and defence establishments throughout the
world. This extends from design through material specification
to packaging and despatch. We stock a wide range of
stainless steels, and other materials, to ensure correct
material selection allowing for the most stringent outgassing
and magnetic permeability specifications. Whether you
order 1 or 33 chambers our materials processing procedures
allow you to feel totally confident that your exact
specifications will be met. If required full material
traceability is available at extra cost.
Welding
 Welding is carried out in a CLASS 10000 clean room, and all TIG welds are purged and backed with appropriate gases. Weld scale is virtually eliminated when skilled welders are properly equipped. No filler material is used on any internal surface. If vessel complexity, or safety standards demand then a full penetration external TIG or electron beam weld is employed. Special vacuum brazing techniques are also used where the need arises or obvious benefits occur, such as stainless steel to copper joints in cooling assemblies.
Inspection
Inspection consists of many steps including: CMM checking of port position in a CLASS 10000 clean room Post cleaning magnetic sector Helium leak checking to < 2x10-10 mbar l s-1 Quadrupole leak checking with full RGA scans at room temperature and at 300°C on request If required microscopic proof of weld integrity can be provided.
 Chemical
CleaningChemical cleaning, the magic of UHV, can be carried out to your recipe. We are equipped for the acid-less cleaning of chambers, and recently have removed CFCs from our standard degreasing procedures. If aesthetic appearance is of prime importance we are experienced in the application of electrolytes, or chemical polishing, to both reduce surface area and enhance first impressions.
